Previous working experience:
Started at Vanenburg straight after college

What do you do on a daily basis at Vanenburg?

I’m part of the further development of the micro apps platform Rappit Composer (our own Vanenburg no-code platform) and solution delivery at one of our new customers, Strategic Evolutions works with clients in the capital equipment sales and service industries. They focus on the areas of sales, parts, and services. They aim for improved operational performance, customer satisfaction and profitability for the manufacturer and dealer. At Strategic Evolutions we are working on the Vizybility project using the Rappit Composer platform. Vizybility is a modular Dealer Management System (DMS) for heavy equipment, crane and truck sales and rental dealerships, uniquely optimized for the industry. We will use Rappit Composer to create a cloud-based integration exchange between the Vizybility DMS and other software packages. I am also guiding freshers with their internship projects. (Report Modeler – Rappit Composer Component). Being responsible for the development of a component from scratch gives me a great learning experience, which makes me grateful.

You started at Vanenburg with an internship. Can you tell us a little bit more about the internship itself?

I started my internship in Jan 2021, which went on for 6 months. During this period I was working on the Rappit Composer project. My first task was to explore Google Big Table (A fully managed NoSQL database service part of Google Cloud) through the Bigtable HBase client for Java, which enables you to write Java applications that communicate with Bigtable through open-source HBase API. I worked on a PoC for this connector as well. Later, I successfully added the MongoDB connector and furtherly optimized Rappit Composer in various ways. As time went on, I became more comfortable with Rappit Composer and proud of the things I had accomplished at that point.

“At Vanenburg, they are more welcoming and they guided me very well throughout my internship. They were all ears to valid inputs and suggestions from freshers like me, which really encourages us to come up with new ideas.”

After your internship, you stayed at Vanenburg to become an Associate Software Engineer. Why did you choose to stay at Vanenburg?

Vanenburg provides a very professional atmosphere to improve my technical skills. I really liked the working environment and culture. We have an experienced team. At Vanenburg, they are more welcoming and they guided me very well throughout my internship. They were all ears to valid inputs and suggestions from freshers like me, which really encourages us to come up with new ideas. Most importantly is that I was happy with the tasks assigned to me and there was good learning too. Due to the freedom you have and the seniors’ openness, you are learning much faster than just following instructions.

On which projects are you currently working?

I am currently working on a customer project – enhancing and integrating a Dealer Management System called Vizybility DMS, for our customer Strategic Evolutions – and further development of our micro apps -and integration platform Rappit Composer.

Can you tell us a little bit more about the Vizybility DMS project?

Strategic Evolutions has created a Dealer Management System (DMS) called Vizybility, that is uniquely optimized for the industry. The customer’s requirement is to build a cloud-based integration hub between their DMS and external financial software solutions. In this Vizybility project, we will use our micro apps platform Rappit Composer in such a way that it will function as an integration layer between Vizybility and external on-premise or cloud-based financial software solutions such as QuickBooks and Xero.

What benefits will the Rappit Composer-based solution have for the company?

With this Rappit Composer-based solution, it will become easier for Strategic Evolutions to quickly onboard new clients with their financial software integration requirements. There’s no need to configure everything, which is very time-consuming. Besides that, it will also become easier to monitor, control and measure integration traffic, and expand integration capabilities to include new data elements for example.

It is exciting to see that our company is growing significantly, both in size as well as in customers. There are many new projects, which means that we also need more technical people. It’s a learning experience for both seniors and freshers. The experience of seniors in combination with new technologies and knowledge entering the company is working very well. Kudos to everyone in the Vanenburg family whose efforts have made our company go from strength to strength. With more fresh minds coming in, it creates a vibrant working environment.
